7×50 Binoculars Star Gazing

I’m new to star-gazing and want to buy an astronimical binoculars.?

I’ve read so many books on astronomy and star-gazing, but I never had a chance to really look into space. As a beginner I heard that binoculars are good for starters, before buying an actual telescope. But which ones are good? 7×50, 11×70, what is the best one? Are they expensive? What is eye relief on binoculars? Has anyone ever had a binocular for star-gazing? And what can you actually see in space with one? Oh god, I know too many questions….Sorry. By the way I live in UK.
Thank you!

Binoculars are definitely a good start, mostly because you’re working with a larger viewing area so it is easier to get familiar with the sky. They’re also alot cheaper!

I have a pair of Celestron Skymaster 15 x 70mm binoculars, which do a great job for casual usage. In fact, my first time out with them I saw the moons of Jupiter. It was amazing! When it comes to viewing the moon the view is breathtaking, the surface topography is very easily seen (full moon viewing is less impressive, waxing or waning is best, the terminator really helps you see surface details).

My girlfriend got them for me and I want to say she only paid $65.00 for them online.

They’re big, and the magnification is great enough that the view can be shaky if you’re just holding them while standing. I recommend attaching them to a photographic tripod (they come with a mounting bracket, a little flimsy, but it does the trick.) You can always try resting your arms against something while you look through them, but I’ve found the best views come when they’re mounted.

Good luck, and enjoy!
