Binoculars Double Image?

So I finally got my 10×50 Nikon binoculars yesterday, they were working great.

Yes, they are out of collimation. This is unacceptable for brand new binoculars. I would return them for a replacement.

[Edit] It’s worth mentioning that some people are incapable of merging the images in binoculars. I have an astronomer friend who is like that. Once you find the correct interpupillary distance, you should leave it there…moving from the optimum distance will cause eyestrain, and may be what’s causing your double images. Incidenatlly, the view through binoculars NEVER looks like what you see in movies or TV: ∞ ; it’s always circular.
