My Countertop Water Distiller
My husband and I bought a little summer cottage up by the lake in New Hampshire last year. We loved the place from the very first time we laid eyes on it. We could watch the birds and occasionally we would see a deer from our back porch. And the place was peaceful and the neighborhood has its own little private beach down the road that we can walk to. We loved everything about it, in fact, except for the taste of the water. Whew! The water tasted like — well, I can’t say the word in case there are children reading this. The first morning we ever spent there, in fact, and my husband and I each had a glass of tap water at the breakfast table. We both took a sip and looked at each other and said at the same time, “Distiller.” We went home that day, unplugged our countertop water distiller at home, and brought it back to our summer house. The thing is a miracle worker—it’s quiet, you just plug it right in (if it were any more complicated than that my mechanically-disinclined husband would be lost) and it goes to work boiling the tap water and condensing it and giving us nice, fresh safe water to enjoy. And I drink a lot of water during the day, especially when I’m sitting outside in my lawn chair with my binoculars watching the birds, so you can imagine what a godsend this little doohickey is to me.
